    broken tiles

    Home remodeling - broken tiles

Are you familiar with the situation? Your bathroom has some broken tiles and when you bought those tiles some years ago you did not think of buying more in case that happens or you already used up all the spare ones you once had and now you donīt find the same brand and style because they stopped making them? Instead of exchanging them with a rough equivalent why not showing some taste and style and replace them with a tile of another color? If you have a wall tiled for example with only white or cream colored ones, you could renew the broken tile with red ones. That breaks the monotonous pattern and puts in some color. The idea is to have some spots that the eye can focus on and to freshen up the atmosphere of the bathroom. This is always assuming that the broken tiles are only scattered here and there and not big patches in the same area. If you have broken tiles that concentrate to one single area you could apply the same idea but instead of exchanging a single tile here and there replace a whole area of broken tiles and put up a special pattern, for example a whole vertical stripe or some shapes like stars or squares up. Once those changes on the wall are applied you want to make sure that you repeat the color in another object in the room. One idea would be to by towels in the same color or find a vase that matches the color of the tile.

    entrance

One thing that always makes the entrance of your house or apartment a lot nicer is some kind of sideboard or a place to drop your keys and cell on when you come home. If you go to a shop to look for such a side board you will be amazed how expansive they can be. But you donīt have to spend a lot of money on those, if you can make one yourself. The easiest way to do so is to just install a shelf on a free wall next to the entrance door. If you have a plug nearby it little lamp that you can put on top of that shelf will provide a cozy light when you come home after dark. To round up the image you should place a framed picture or poster or a painting on the same wall and center the shelf underneath.
If you prefer a side board over a shelf this, too can be built by oneself. A cheap way to create an impresion of a side board is to take an old or cheap kitchen table and cut it in half. This might sound odd at the first thought but such a table has the right height to serve a neat little side stand but not the right depth. By cutting it carefully in half with a jigsaw or a buzz saw one can later bolt it to the wall after painting and varnishing it as one prefers.

    posters

There are a lot of ways to remodel your home. Most people get deterred by the money they have to spend, in order to get a proper result. But you donīt have to spend a fortune to get a nicer place. One of the cheapest ways is to buy some posters. They offer the possibility to supply your home with aesthetic surroundings - for everyones likings! This way you even can provide your place with some classic elements, like art prints. In the last few years the price of art prints has fallen so much, that meanwhile you can get them sometimes already around 5-10 Euros.
